Strong Middle Miles Power a Steady 10K Alex Phipps finished the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 58:49, averaging 9:29 per mile. He opened with a controlled, evenly paced effort through the first four miles, splitting between 9:36 and 9:41, before finding his best rhythm of the day in the fifth mile. That fifth mile came in at 8:30, nearly a full minute faster than his overall average, marking the fastest mile of his race. He eased slightly over the closing mile to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall, a fitting cap to a race run at over 5,000 feet of elevation in downtown Boulder. With his pacing so consistent through the middle of the course, Phipps could look at sustaining that fifth-mile surge a bit longer next time for an even stronger close.
