Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Owen Murdock #12328 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles

Strong Start Fades Late as Pace Climbs Over Final 10K Owen Murdock finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:14:20, placing 34th overall and 28th among men in a field of 3,305. That's a step back from his 2:53:39 in 2024 and 3:01:11 in 2025, continuing a trend of slower finishes at this event. Murdock's race showed a clear two-part shape: through the first 12 miles he held a tight 6:11-6:20 cumulative pace, running as high as 7th overall at one point. That effort held reasonably well through the half, but pace steadily climbed from mile 18 onward, with splits slipping past 8:00 and eventually into the 9:00-10:00 range over the closing miles. That opening 12-mile stretch, covered near 6:15 per mile, stands as the highlight of the day. He crossed the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation.
