Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Melissa Bittick #20076 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles

Strong Closing Miles Power a Steady Half Marathon Melissa Bittick finished the half marathon in 1:49:04, an 8:19 per mile pace. She settled into a consistent rhythm through the opening miles, holding between 8:11 and 8:25 per mile through mile eight, before a brief dip near mile nine. She then reeled off her fastest stretch of the race over the final three miles, covering that section in about 7:40 per mile, including a 7:20 split at mile twelve. Racing through downtown Boulder's Pearl Street Mall finish at over 5,000 feet of elevation, Bittick closed with her strongest miles late in the race, a pattern worth building on with an eye toward sustaining that closing strength earlier next time.
