Steady Pace Nets Age-Group Win at Altitude Ray Szabat finished the 10K in 46:55, placing 97th overall and 71st among men in a field of 3,071 and first in the M65-69 division. That result capped a race where his mile splits held in a tight band through 7:16, 7:30, 7:38 and 7:48, before he found another gear. His strongest stretch came in mile five, covered in 7:03, the fastest mile of his race and a clear surge after four miles of gradual settling. The final mile eased back to 8:05, a reasonable tempering after that push. Racing in Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, Szabat's ability to hold form and even accelerate mid-race speaks well of his pacing discipline on the day.
