His race opened fast, dropping to a 7:37 mile-two split the quickest stretch of his day before settling into a consistent rhythm through the middle miles, holding between 7:46 and 8:15 per mile from three through eight. The pace loosened slightly in miles nine through eleven, dipping to 8:28 and 8:33, before he tightened back up to 8:04 and 8:13 to close. That late lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5 came right as his pace was easing, a useful marker for pacing strategy on the next go, especially given Boulders elevation above 5,000 feet.
