Strong Middle Mile Powers Steady 5K Finish John Nicholson completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 23:53, finishing 145th among men. His race built through a strong second mile, clocked at 6:47, before easing back to an 8:51 close over the final stretch. That middle-mile surge stood as the fastest mile of his race, a clear high point in an otherwise even effort. Racing in Boulder, which sits above 5,000 feet, John paced his opening mile at 7:23 before finding his rhythm. The final mile's dip in pace is common at altitude, and there's room to experiment with a more even split next time outperhaps holding back slightly early to preserve some of that second-mile strength for the close. Overall, a solid, well-managed 5K effort.
