The race opened well, with Torres clicking off his first two miles at a 9:029:03 pace, his fastest miles of the day. From there, the pace eased steadily each mile, bottoming out with a 12:13 sixth mile to close things out. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Torres might look to carry that early rhythm further into the back half next time, though the opening miles here showed he has the speed to do it.
