Steady Pace Holds Strong Until a Late Push Theresa Martin completed the 10K in 1:03:15, an average pace of 10:12 per mile. Her mile splits stayed consistent through the middle of the race10:18, 9:59, 10:17, and 10:22before a strong fifth mile at 9:27, her fastest full mile of the day. The final mile eased to 11:11, a reasonable adjustment after that faster stretch. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Martin's pacing shows a runner who found rhythm early and had gas left for a mid-race surge. If there's a place to look for a bit more each year, it may be extending that fifth-mile strength through mile six.
