Strong Middle Mile Powers a Solid 5K Finish Pablo Huizar covered the 5K in 30:37, a race shaped by a fast build and a late fade. He opened with a 9:30 first mile, surged to his best pace of the day in mile two at 8:16, then eased to a 12:01 close over the final stretch. That middle mile stands out as the highlight of the effort, nearly a minute and a half faster than his opening split. Racing through Boulder's thin air, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds context to the overall effort, even as the final mile cost him some of the ground gained earlier.
