Strong Middle Mile Fuels Solid 5K Finish David Momont covered the 5K in 24:17, moving from a 7:18 opening mile into a much quicker 6:45 second mile before easing to a 9:15 close. That middle mile stood out as his fastest stretch of the race, a clear surge in pace before the final push to the line. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Momont's early pace shift reflects well on his pacing instincts, building a cushion through the middle before the finish. With that strong second mile as a foundation, a touch more even pacing over the final stretch could help him carry that speed all the way to the line next time.
