Fast Start Fuels Top-40 Finish at Altitude Jacob Newman crossed the 5K finish line in 18:04, good for 40th overall and 32nd among men in a field of 2,677 at the 2026 Boulderthon. Newman built his race on a strong opening: his first two miles clicked by in 5:24 and 5:16, a sharp pace that carried him near the front of the field early. The final mile slowed to 6:46, tempering his overall average to 5:49 per mile, but the early speed stood out as the strongest stretch of his race. Running the distance at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Newman's opening pace reflects a well-judged, aggressive start worth building on for future races.
