Nearly 70 Minutes Faster on the Marathon Oliver Sumners ran 4:00:15 in the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon, cutting almost 70 minutes from his 2024 finish of 5:09:46 over the same distance. Splits held close to 9:009:20 pace for most of the race, holding steady through the middle miles despite a dip to 11:33 at mile 18. From there, Sumners rebuilt momentum, dropping to 8:20 and 8:30 pace over miles 23 and 24, and closing with a strong 7:47 split in mile 26 his fastest mile of the day. That late surge pulled his overall elapsed pace down to 9:10 min/mile by the finish. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, the closing miles stood out as the strongest sustained stretch of his marathon.
