Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Arden Meckel #40196 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Powers a Steady 5K Finish Arden Meckel completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 28:53. After an opening mile of 10:02, he surged to a 7:43 second mile his fastest of the race before settling into a 10:12 close, evening out his overall pace to 9:19 per mile. That closing stretch carried him toward downtown Boulder, where every Boulderthon distance, including the 5K, finishes on the historic Pearl Street Mall. Given the city's elevation above 5,000 feet, the sharp pickup in mile two stands out as the clearest sign of strong pacing instincts. Meckel might consider working toward a more even split between his first and third miles in future races, though the middle-mile surge shows real strength to build on.
