Sharper Pace, Stronger Finish Overall Eric Carlbom clocked 19:47 in the 5K, finishing 73rd overall and 57th among men, placing 7th in the M40-44 division. That's a marked improvement over his 2025 Boulderthon 5K time of 20:52, cutting more than a minute off his previous mark and moving up from 89th overall. His pacing showed a strong middle surge: after an opening mile of 6:17, he dropped to 5:42 for mile twohis fastest mile of the racebefore closing with a 7:04 final mile. Running this 5K at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet adds context to the effort behind that quick second mile.
