Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Elizabeth Fender #42180 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Start Fuels Top-Tier 5K Finish Elizabeth Fender crossed the line in 19:47, good for 71st overall and 16th among women in the field of 2,677 at the 2026 Boulderthon 5K. Her opening mile came in at 6:19, and she surged into a 5:39 second mile before settling to a 7:08 close, finishing with an overall pace of 6:22 per mile. That second mile stands out as her fastest stretch of the race, a clear gear shift from her opening pace. With the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation, her early speed reflects strong execution against the thinner air. Holding that middle-mile surge a bit longer could offer an even stronger close next time out.
