Strong Middle Mile Powers Steady 5K Finish Marisol Mendez completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 30:17, an average pace of 9:46 per mile. Her race unfolded in three distinct chapters: an opening mile at 10:19, a strong surge through mile two at 8:11, and a settling final mile at 10:48 to the Pearl Street Mall finish. That second mile stood out as her fastest stretch of the race by a wide margin, showing a clear gear shift once she found her rhythm. With the finish line in downtown Boulder sitting over 5,000 feet in elevation, that mid-race push reflects well on her pacing instincts. A slightly more even split between miles one and three could smooth out the overall effort next time, though the strong middle mile more than compensated here.
