Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Eric Baker #41256 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Fast Start Fades Late in Downtown Boulder 5K Eric Baker covered the 5K in 26:47, opening with a strong first mile in 7:49 before finding his best rhythm in mile two at 7:12. That middle mile stood out as the fastest stretch of his race, building solid momentum through the halfway point. The closing mile brought a noticeable shift in pace, with the final stretch settling in at 10:51 as he worked toward the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. Racing in Boulder's thin airthe city sits above 5,000 feetadds a layer of difficulty to any effort, and Baker's early pace showed real strength before the elevation and distance combined to slow his closing mile. With a strong front-half foundation already in place, tightening up that final mile could be a good focus for next time.
