Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Erica Koch #41077 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles
Strong Start Fuels Runner-Up Age-Group Finish Erica Koch placed 92nd overall and 24th among women in the 2026 Boulderthon 5K, crossing in 20:32 (6:37/mile pace) and taking second in the F30-34 division out of the field of 2,677. Koch opened fast, covering the first mile in 6:21 before surging to a 5:44 second mile her strongest stretch of the race. She eased over the closing mile, finishing in 7:30, for a steady overall effort at Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet. Given the strong middle-mile split, Koch might consider a slightly more even pacing strategy in future 5Ks to preserve speed through the finish.
