Steady Pacing Carries Her Through to a Strong Half Marathon Close Jj Akhund finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:49:38, a slight step back from her 1:44:37 in 2025. Her overall pace of 8:22 min/mile reflected a race built on consistency rather than dramatic surges, with mile splits mostly hovering in the 8:068:34 range through the middle miles. The final miles stood out as her strongest stretch: after a 9:01 split at mile 11, she rebounded with an 8:01 and then a 7:57 for mile 13, closing the race faster than she started it. That late push, from mile 11 through the finish, was the fastest sustained mile-plus segment of her day. With the course finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, her ability to close strong is a good building block to carry into future races.
