Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Franzi Klein #40653 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

A Strong Middle Mile Powers a Solid 5K Franzi Klein completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 26:54, an average pace of 8:40 per mile at over 5,000 feet of elevation in Boulder. Klein's race built momentum early, opening with an 8:38 first mile before surging to a 7:33 second mile her fastest stretch of the day. The final mile slowed to 9:48, pulling her overall pace back up, but the strong middle mile stands out as the highlight of her effort. With the finish landing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, Klein's race shape reflects a runner who found her rhythm mid-course; building a touch more consistency between miles one and three could be a worthwhile focus for her next 5K.
