Steady Pacing Delivers a Faster Boulderthon Finish Emmet Pritchard crossed the 2026 Boulderthon marathon in 4:32:49, improving on his 2023 finish here by seven minutes. His race unfolded in two distinct phases: after an opening mile at 10:28, he settled into a consistent 9:5910:29 per-mile rhythm through the middle miles, holding elapsed pace within seconds of 10:15 from mile 6 to mile 20. Miles 2123 saw a natural cooling to the 11-minute range before he closed strong, dropping to 9:47 for his final mile his fastest of the day. His standout stretch came at mile 11, clocked in 9:30, the quickest mile of his marathon. That surge came well before the course's final push to the Pearl Street Mall, where every Boulderthon distance finishes in downtown Boulder a fitting cap to a race run entirely above 5,000 feet of altitude.
