A Solid 5K Effort with a Strong Middle Mile Theodore Gloege finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 42:53, finishing behind his 2025 time of 39:28 on the same course. His race unfolded unevenly: an opening mile of 14:23 gave way to a much stronger second mile at 12:25, before easing back to 14:12 over the closing stretch. That middle mile stood out as his fastest of the day, showing a clear surge in the race's second third before the pace settled again. Gloege raced through downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation, adding a real physical test to any 5K effort. Given the strength of that second-mile split, there may be room to work on carrying that rhythm through the final mile in future races.
