Steady Double-Digit Pacing Gives Way to a Hard-Fought Final 10K Angel De Souza covered the marathon in 4:46:40. Her opening ten miles were remarkably consistent, holding between 9:49 and 10:18 per mile, and she found her best form from mile 8 through mile 12, averaging roughly 9:48 per mile the fastest sustained stretch of her race. Pace held near 10:00 per mile through mile 18 before the closing miles slowed into the 12:0014:00 range, bringing her cumulative pace to 10:57 per mile by the finish. That late fade came as the course carried her past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, a stretch where many runners feel the cumulative effect of Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet. She closed out the race on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, capping a run built on a strong, patient middle segment.
