Strong Opening Miles Give Way to a Gritty Marathon Finish Jack Crabtree, 31, of Golden, CO, completed the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:00:28, averaging 9:10 per mile. He opened fast, covering the first two miles in under 7:00 pace, then settled into a controlled rhythm through the middle miles before the pace gradually loosened over the final ten miles, closing with a strong final mile back into downtown Boulder. His most consistent stretch came from miles 4 through 9, where he held between 7:15 and 7:59 per mile, a span that anchored his overall time. That effort came at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, a factor worth noting given the pace he sustained through those middle miles. The late-race stretch near the lululemon Power-Up Zone around mile 22.5 marked where his pace eased most, before he rallied to close out the marathon on the Pearl Street Mall.
