Faster Finish, Stronger Stride Anton Kirillov ran the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 31:53, a sharp improvement over his 35:41 finish at the same race in 2024. That gap of nearly four minutes reflects a much more efficient effort this time around, with his overall pace tightening from 11:30 to 10:17 per mile. His race built quickly, opening with a 9:48 first mile before dropping to 9:15 for the second his fastest mile of the day. The final mile slowed to 11:43, a common pattern after a strong middle push. Racing in Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty to any pacing strategy, and Kirillovs early speed suggests he has room to experiment with a more even split across the three miles in future 5Ks.
