Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Paulo Gomes #41416 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Faster Finish Than Last Year, Despite a Late Fade Paulo Gomes crossed the line in 31:05, trimming nearly two minutes off his 32:57 from last year's Boulderthon 5K. His pacing showed a strong middle push: after opening in 9:41, he quickened to 8:59 for the second mile, pulling his cumulative pace down to 9:19 per mile. The final mile slowed to 11:31, nudging his overall pace back up to 10:01 per mile, but that second-mile surge stood out as the fastest stretch of his race. Racing through downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet, Gomes closed his 5K with a course finish on the historic Pearl Street Mall. The year-over-year improvement reflects a more even effort than his 2025 outing, with room to build on that strong second-mile pace for next year.
