Strong Early Pace Fuels a Steady Half Marathon Finish Mckenna Ellis covered the half marathon in 1:49:11, an 8:20 min/mile average pace. Ellis ran her strongest stretch over the first six miles, holding between 7:32 and 7:56 per mile and reaching the 6-mile mark in 47:09 a 7:51 average pace. The middle miles eased slightly, with mile 8 hitting 8:52, before she steadied again through miles 12 and 13 at 8:24 each. That final surge brought her home on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting cap to a race run at altitude, with Boulder sitting over 5,000 feet above sea level.
