Strong Middle Miles Power a Steady 10K Finish Kate Zittergruen covered the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:02:10, an average pace of 10:01 per mile. Her race built through a steady middle stretch, dropping from 9:43 through four miles down to a race-best 9:27 for mile five, the strongest full-mile stretch of her day. The final push to the line eased pace over the closing 1.2 miles, closing out the effort at a measured tempo. Boulder's elevation, over 5,000 feet, gives context to any effort here, and Zittergruen's race ended where every Boulderthon distance does, on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Her steadiest work came in that fifth mile, a segment worth building on with continued mid-race focus in future starts.
