A Strong Middle Mile Carries a Solid 5K Finish Lexi Grimes finished her 5K in 30:33, a pace of 9:51 per mile. Her race built through the middle before easing back over the closing stretch: she opened in 9:55 for the first mile, surged to 8:29 for the second, then settled into 11:02 to the line. That second mile stood out as her fastest of the morning, a clear high point in an otherwise steady effort.
