Steady Finish Caps a Solid 5K Effort Nicholas Prufer, 35, of Arvada, CO, completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 30:47, an overall pace of 9:55 per mile. Prufer's race showed a clear shift in rhythm: after an opening mile of 10:04, he surged to 8:31 for mile two, his fastest mile of the day, before easing to an 11:13 close. That middle mile stood out as his strongest sustained stretch, showing a solid gear shift once he settled in. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, Prufer's race reflected the natural push-pull of pacing at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet. A touch more evenness between miles two and three could help smooth his overall split next time out.
