Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Carol Griffin #40077 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Powers Steady 5K Finish Carol Griffin, 67, of Longmont, completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 31:40, finishing fourth in the F65-69 division. Her race unfolded in three distinct phases: an opening mile of 10:04, a sharp pickup to 8:43 through mile two, then a settling to 11:43 over the closing mile. That second mile stood out as her fastest stretch of the day, a solid surge before the finish. Griffin's race played out at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, and closed with the traditional finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Building on that quick second mile could be a useful focus going forward finding a way to carry more of that rhythm into the final stretch.
