Strong Middle Mile Fuels Steady 5K Finish Robert Manzanares completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 26:06, an overall pace of 8:25 per mile. His race built through a strong middle mile: after an opening 9:07, he surged to a 7:00 second mile his fastest of the race before settling into an 8:54 closing mile to the finish. That middle-mile push pulled his cumulative pace down from 9:07 to 8:03 per mile before a slight rebound by the finish. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Manzanares showed he can shift gears mid-race; a more even pacing strategy between miles one and two could help him sustain that faster rhythm through the final stretch in future 5Ks.
