Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Meadow Vanecek #41790 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Steady Effort Across Every Mile of the 5K Meadow Vanecek, age 6, completed the 5K in 1:14:33. Her race unfolded with a strong opening mile at 21:42, the fastest stretch of her day, before her pace eased to 25:15 for mile two and 25:46 for mile three. That opening mile stands out as the highlight of her run, showing an ability to get out quickly before settling into a steadier rhythm over the remaining distance. Held in Boulder, sitting more than 5,000 feet above sea level, the race finishes along the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder a fitting stage for a young runner's first steps into distance racing. Given her fast start, Meadow might consider a slightly more even pacing approach next time, easing off just a touch in mile one to carry more energy into the closing miles.
