Strong Start Fades Late in Final Mile Mya Stevens finished the 5K in 30:13, an average pace of 9:45 per mile. She opened with her fastest mile of the day at 9:12, held nearly identical pace through mile two at 9:18, then slowed to 10:44 over the closing mile as fatigue set in. Racing at altitude Boulder sits above 5,000 feet Stevens' early miles showed strong control before the effort caught up with her late. With the 5K's 7:45 a.m. start and a finish on the Pearl Street Mall, her pacing pattern suggests room to work on sustaining that opening rhythm deeper into the race. The first two miles offer a solid foundation to build from for future starts at this distance.
