Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Lily Gathright #40498 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Anchors a Steady 5K Lily Gathright, 10, completed the 5K in 31:32, an average pace of 10:10 per mile. She opened with a 9:57 first mile, quickened through the second in 9:10 her fastest mile of the race and eased to an 11:21 close over the final stretch. Racing at altitude in a city sitting above 5,000 feet, Gathright's early pace held firm before the late dip, a common pattern as effort compounds over a 5K distance. The race started downtown at 7:45 AM and finished, like every Boulderthon distance, on the historic Pearl Street Mall. With her opening two miles well matched, she might look next at sustaining that same rhythm through the final mile.
