Friedman's race built momentum through the middle mile: after an opening 10:47, he surged to 8:30 for mile twohis fastest mile of the daybefore settling back to 10:56 to close things out. That middle-mile push marked the clear high point of his effort, showing a runner capable of shifting gears mid-race. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet adds context to the overall effort. With the opening and closing miles more measured, there may be room to carry that mile-two rhythm further into the final stretch next time out.
