Strong Start, Steady Finish at Altitude Wendy Pickering completed the 5K in 37:37, covering the course at an elapsed pace of 12:08 per mile. Her race unfolded with an early surge, opening in 11:17 for the first mile before quickening to a 10:51 second mile, pulling her cumulative pace down to 11:04 per mile at the two-mile mark. The final mile eased to 14:09, bringing her overall pace back up to 12:05 through three miles before the finish. The second mile stood out as her fastest mile-long stretch of the race, a notable surge after a solid opening mile. Running the full distance in Boulder, sitting over 5,000 feet in elevation, adds context to the effort behind that pace.
