Strong Middle Mile Fuels a Steady 5K Finish Anastasia Gallegos Roque covered the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 29:12, finishing 35th in the women's 20-24 division. Her race opened with a 9:33 first mile, then surged to a 7:46 second mile the fastest stretch of her race before easing to 10:57 over the closing mile to the line. That middle-mile push stood out as the clear highlight, showing a runner capable of shifting gears mid-race. With the final mile settling back near her opening pace, there's room to work on sustaining that faster rhythm deeper into the distance. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation, adds context to the overall effort a solid showing worth building on for future races.
