Strong Start Fuels Top-Tier 5K Finish Jason Kaminski crossed the line in 22:06, good for 118th overall and 92nd among men in the 2026 Boulderthon 5K, placing him in the top tier of the field. Kaminski's race showed a fast opening and a firm closing effort. He opened with a 6:49 first mile, then surged to a 6:24 second mile his strongest stretch of the day before easing to an 8:04 final mile as he approached the Pearl Street Mall finish in downtown Boulder. That pattern, a quick start followed by a controlled finish, is common at Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, where the thinner air can make sustaining early pace tougher. Given his overall balance, focusing on holding that middle-mile intensity a bit longer could yield an even stronger finish next time.
