Strong Start Fuels a Steady 5K Finish Sarah Workman covered the 5K in 28:18, an overall pace of 9:07 per mile. She opened with an 8:59 first mile, then found her rhythm on the second mile, clocking a 8:10 split, before easing to a 10:17 close in the final mile. Running through downtown Boulder, sitting over 5,000 feet of elevation, Workman's second mile stood out as her fastest stretch of the race, a strong surge that shaped her overall pace.
