His race shape showed a clear rally: an opening mile of 9:58 gave way to a sharp 8:26 second mile, his fastest of the day, before easing back to 10:27 to close things out. That middle-mile surge was the standout stretch of his race, showing a strong gear shift once he found his rhythm. Racing at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet adds its own demand to any pace, and Lux's negative-to-positive split pattern reflects a smart, controlled effort. The 5K field started at 7:45 AM and finished on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting close to a well-managed run.
