Strong Middle Mile Powers Solid 5K Finish Abigail Howes finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 28:18, averaging 9:07 per mile. Her race built momentum through the middle before settling in over the final stretch: after an opening mile of 9:39, she surged to 7:52 for mile two, then eased to 9:51 to close things out. That second mile stood out as her fastest stretch of the day, a solid mid-race push that moved her up through the field before the finish. Howes crossed the line in downtown Boulder, closing out her 5K on the historic Pearl Street Mall at over 5,000 feet of elevation.
