Strong Start Fades Over Final Mile Jack Olson completed the 5K in 31:37, an overall pace of 10:12 per mile. He opened briskly, covering the first mile in 9:11 and the second in 9:04, holding a cumulative pace near 9:07 per mile through two miles. The closing mile slowed to 12:17, pulling his overall pace back to 10:10 by the 3-mile mark before the finish. The early pair of miles stands as the highlight of the race, run nearly a full minute faster per mile than the closing stretch. Given that quick start, Jack might consider a slightly more even effort in a future 5K to help sustain that pace through the final mile, especially with Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet adding its own demand on late-race energy.
