Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Nina Lucas #41734 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Powers a Steady 5K Finish Nina Lucas, 21, of Boulder, completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 28:08. Her race built through a strong middle mile, dropping from a 9:57 opening mile to 8:20 for mile two before settling to 9:01 over the closing stretch that middle mile stood as her fastest of the day, and her cumulative pace tightened steadily from 9:57 to 9:05 by the finish. Racing on home turf, Lucas took on Boulder's course at over 5,000 feet of elevation, a backdrop that makes her even split through the finish especially notable. With her strongest mile coming right in the heart of the race, there may be room to explore pushing that pace earlier next time out.
