Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Joey Carducci #42091 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Fast Start Fuels Gender and Division Win Joey Carducci crossed the line in 23:38, claiming 177th overall out of the field of 2,677 and topping both the gender-neutral and 50-54 age divisions. That result came on the strength of an early surge that carried well ahead of the pace needed for a podium finish. The first two miles were the standout of the race, covered in 6:58 and 6:54 for a combined pace of about 6:56 per mile, well under the overall 7:37 min/mile average pace. The final mile eased to an 8:53 split, a natural pullback after such a strong opening. Running at altitude in Boulder, which sits above 5,000 feet, that early pace stands out even more. Consider settling into a slightly more even split next time to see how it affects the closing miles.
