Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Kole Whaley #42154 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Start Fades Late in the 5K Kole Whaley completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 31:08, an overall pace of 10:02 per mile across the field of 2,677. Whaley opened with a 9:15 first mile, then quickened to 8:31 for the second his fastest mile of the race. The final mile slowed to 12:05, pulling his cumulative pace back to 9:56 through 3 miles before the finish. Racing at altitude in Boulder, sitting over 5,000 feet, that early speed through two miles stands as the highlight of his day, and a touch more evenness between the middle and closing miles could smooth out next time.
