Strong Start Fades Late in 5K Effort Abdullah Hamid completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 29:16, an overall pace of 9:26 per mile. Racing in his hometown of Boulder, he opened fast before easing through the back half of the course. His opening mile was his best, clocked at 7:39, before the pace cooled to 8:54 over the second mile and 11:59 over the third. That progression left his cumulative pace at 9:30 per mile by the finish. Boulder's elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty to any effort at this pace, and Hamid's early speed shows real potential dialing in a more even effort across all three miles could help him carry that opening rhythm all the way to the Pearl Street Mall finish.
