Steady Start Fuels a Solid 10K Finish Liz Griffin completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:04:06, an average pace of 10:20 per mile across the field of 3,071. Griffin's race opened strong, with her first two miles at 9:20 and 9:02, the fastest stretch of her day. From there, each mile eased gradually 10:21, 10:32, 10:48, and 11:55 as fatigue built steadily rather than suddenly. That opening two-mile pace stood well ahead of her overall average, giving her race a clear early foundation before the gradual fade through the back half. Running this distance at Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty worth noting. For next time, working on sustaining that early rhythm a bit longer into the middle miles could help smooth out the closing pace.
