Big Half-Marathon Improvement Fueled by a Fast Start and Strong Finish Ellen Hurst finished the half marathon in 1:43:43, placing 484th overall and 107th among women in a field of 7,223. That result marks an 8-minute-7-second improvement over her 2025 Boulderthon half, where she ran 1:51:50 and finished 978th overall. Hurst's pace showed a strong opening before settling into a steady rhythm: her fastest mile came right out of the gate, a 7:18 opening split, and her cumulative pace held near 7:30 through the middle miles before easing slightly and rallying again late, with a 7:43 split at mile 12. This year's Boulder half also came with meaningfully less climbing reworked in 2026 to cut net elevation gain nearly in half, from 384 to 203 feet a fitting backdrop for a personal-best-caliber performance in the Mile High City.
