Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Andy Marchant #40640 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

A Strong Middle Mile Anchors a Steady 5K Andy Marchant finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 29:23, an overall pace of 9:28 per mile, in Westminster, CO. The race unfolded in three distinct chapters: an opening mile at 10:23, a sharp turn to a 7:55 second mile, and a settling third mile at 10:16 to close in 28:33 cumulative. That middle mile stands as the standout stretch of the day, easily the fastest mile Marchant ran, and it pulled his overall placement up from 699th to 544th by the two-mile mark. The final mile eased back toward the opening pace, holding position through the finish. With Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, that middle-mile surge is a solid marker to build from in future races worth revisiting whether it can be sustained longer next time.
